Issue: Education: Factors impacting on Quality

The goal of education is to provide for an informed electorate, and allow individuals to be successful in there lives and careers. There are many factors that impact on the quality of the education of an individual, and some warrant their own Issue designation in this forum. There are others which are more "across-the-board," and can be listed as individual topics under this Issue area.
Instruction: Under each of the topics below, please make your contribution of a proposal to deal with the topic/problem, or provide a statement of unintended consequences. Feel free to comment on any contribution submitted by others.
  • School work assigned during holiday & spring breaks

One of the "needs" of young people is to have a break, at all levels of education, from the pressures of accomplishment required in their schooling. It is very common for students to be assigned educational work over periods of time when they (and their parents) are presuming that they will have a break. This is therefore not a break. It is proposed that the assignment of school work over holiday and spring break periods be banned.
